Library Confidentiality
It is the policy of the Litchfield Public Library District to ensure the privacy of the users of its services and to consider any library records to be confidential. Records which may be required in obtaining a library card or loaning books are for the sole purpose of protecting Library property.
Under no circumstances will the Library answer to a third party about what a patron may or may not be reading, or calling for, from the Library’s immediate collection or via the extension of interlibrary loan. No library records will be made available to casual member of the public, the press, or any agency of the state, federal, or local government without an order from a court of competent jurisdiction. Any costs incurred by the Library in any search through patron records, even under court order, will be charged to the agency who has demanded the records.
